"Carbs make me fat, "
"I must not eat after 6pm."
The vast majority of my clients have at least a few diet rules, usually many more.
I know it's a cliché but I love my work. I work with people experiencing eating disorders AND disordered eating (a.k.a. weight loss dieting).
I especially love helping chronic dieters dismantle restrictive food rules.
Do you binge eat, emotionally eat, or frequently overeat to the point of uncomfortable fullness?
Once you've uncovered your limiting beliefs, you need to replace them with thoughts and beliefs that are more rational and reasonable. For example,
"Whenever I eat pasta, I'm much fatter the next day. Carbs make me fat."
"By the time I actually ALLOW myself to eat carbs, I'm RAVENOUS - so I eat past the point of comfortable fullness, which makes me "feel fat".
"I'm salt sensitive. Since my pasta is pretty salty, I'm probably bloated. This isn't fat - it's just water retention. It's temporary."
Do you have restrictive diet rules? Are they taking up all your brain space and energy, time and money?
If so I invite you to imagine how much more rich and meaningful your life could be when you're no longer consumed by food rules and body thoughts.
If you are thinking of working with me on dieting issues, this is my thing. For nearly four years I've worked in body image and weight management using a non-diet and intuitive eating approach - and I'm continually humbled by the positive effect that this has on my client's lives and sense of wellbeing.
I offer a complimentary, obligation-free phone chat. Here we get to discuss whether or not I can help you - because I don't want to waste your or my time if I don't think I can actually help you. I ask some you pointed questions to make sure you're ready for this kind of work.
We figure out whether or not we are a right fit for one another. Whether this chat takes 15 minutes or one hour, or whether we end up working together or not, doesn't matter.
So if you're sick of diet rules ruling your life, get in touch today and let's see if we can do some serious dismantling.
